Dear Friends,

We welcome you to join with us for worship and service at Oak Hill United Methodist Church. We are located approximately two miles north of Morganton on Highway 181, about 20 minutes south of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We have two worship services every Sunday: the 8:30 am service is a contemporary service with a praise team leading us in worship, and the 10:55 service is a traditional service where we sing hymns chosen from the United Methodist Hymnal. At both services we use power point presentations where the hymns, praise music, readings, etc. are displayed on the wall of the church.

We are both an Evangelical and a Pentecostal church in the historic sense of those words. First, we proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ (evangel) as the way which leads to peace with God. Second, we believe the Holy Spirit is at work in our worship and service to accomplish his plans and purposes (pentecostal), just as he did on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter two.

Our church is both friendly and welcoming to visitors. If I did not believe this I would not say it. Believe me; I have pastored churches that were neither friendly nor welcoming to visitors. Oak Hill is a friendly and welcoming church!

As a United Methodist congregation we belong to the connectional system of Methodism, belonging to the Marion District, the Western North Carolina Annual Conference, and the Southeastern Jurisdiction of United Methodist Churches. We support the ministries within our connectional system, and we are involved in several local ministries as well.

We also believe strongly in Christian fellowship. We have youth, women, and men’s groups to give people a place to “plug in” to to Christian fellowship and to make new friends.

One of our goals at Oak Hill is to have as many people as possible involved in ministry, since to be a member is to be a minister(servant) of Christ. If you are looking for a place to dig in and serve, we welcome you to visit with us and to join with us, if it is the Lord’s will. We receive new members by transferal of letter, by profession of faith and baptism, and by statement of faith and previous baptism.

Come and visit Oak Hill and see what the Lord is doing in this place. God bless.

Sincerely,

Mark S. Denton
Pastor
